Welcome to Sorrow, an eerie, backwoods town with a dark past. Forty years ago a woman drowned herself in Willow Lake, sparking an urban legend which would grip the town's fear and imagination like a vice. So when the corpse of a local missing girl is found floating on the surface of the lake, the four decade old tale takes on a whole new sense of reality.
This discovery shatters the plans of Tim and Kayla Dowery, young newlyweds fresh from the big city. They came searching for the sleepy, peaceful life of the small town. What they found was a community seized by panic and superstition.
Is the legend real? Or is there a killer on the loose?
Tim will soon join the ranks of the anxious when Kayla doesn’t return home one night. Larry, Tim’s only friend since his arrival, cautions Tim not to ignore the legends about the lake. But Tim won’t accept that tall tales are responsible for his wife's vanishing and launches his own investigation.
His search will lead him to Raymond Gomez, the ‘town boogeyman’ who is the subject of more rumors than the lake. Like how he accidentally shot off his penis trying to pull a gun in a bar fight. Or his questionable relationship with the girl who was spit out of the lake just days earlier. Tim is amazed at how blinded a town can be. The creepy eunuch is obviously guilty yet he's out walking free because the town blames a haunted lake.
As Halloween arrives, Tim stakes Raymond out at The Kinky Mule, Sorrow's seedy fetish themed nightclub. He attempts to follow as Raymond leaves with Britney Rubins, a perky teenage redhead, in tow, but loses them in the crowd. Unfortunately for Britney, her night is just beginning, and it’s going to be the longest night of her life. After blacking out, she’ll later awaken, tied up in the back of a pick-up truck en-route to Willow Lake where, after a frantic chase through the woods, she’ll face a shocking confrontation.
Tim awakens the next morning to the news that Britney’s body was found on the dock of Willow Lake. He sets out to encounter Raymond once and for all. But could Tim be wrong? For that same night, Larry will venture into the woods to investigate his own theory. And peering into the basement window of an old Victorian house overlooking Willow Lake, he’ll see a sight that not only solves Tim's mystery, but will shed light on the town's biggest mystery.
Now all Larry has to do is escape with this knowledge alive. All Tim will have to do is survive his encounter with Raymond. And when the final pieces of the puzzle are laid in place, the shocking twist will send moviegoers spilling onto the sidewalk, gasping for air.
